Mud Bay Community Dock

Mud Bay Community Dock is a vital transportation hub for Protection Islanders going to work, shop, attend school and other activities. Annual upkeep of the dock infrastructure is essential both for insurance purposes and water lot lease conditions.

Mud Bay Dock is a COMMUNITY DOCK for the use of Protection Island residents. It is paid for with financial donations and maintained by the volunteer labour of the community. The Mud Bay Dock has been working successfully for many decades under a community model supported by collective labour, financial support, respect, and consideration.

The model adopted at the 2025 AGM for the 2026 calendar year expects that users also contribute at least one day of labour to work parties and dock maintenance, carried out under the leadership of Larry Iwaskow and Phil Jones. Please check the Dock Bulletin Board for notices. For users who cannot contribute to the work parties, a financial contribution of “one-day’s pay” in lieu of labour is suggested. Maintenance work parties are also generously supported by contributions of food and drink for lunch. Community support is gratefully accepted and appreciated.

All financial donations will be acknowledged via email from the committee. Paper receipts are available upon request.  You can contact the committee by email at mudbaydock@gmail.com

The dock committee encourages each user to send a photo of their vessel(s) to the dock committee via email: mudbaydock@gmail.com
